Leyton Orient Women travel to take on Cambridge United Women at Mildenhall Town Football Club in the FA Women’s National League this Sunday.

The east-London side currently reside in fifth-place in the FA Women’s National League South East Division One, collecting 21 points having played 15 matches.

In their last outing, the O’s progressed to the Capital Cup final after defeating Queens Park Rangers Women on penalties.

Suaila Cardoso Queni gave Orient the lead inside a minute, before Jo Wilson drew QPR level on the stroke of half-time. A goalless second half meant a penalty shoot-out which Orient won 4-3.

However, their last league game ended in a narrow 2-1 defeat away at Billericay Town Ladies. Goals from Zoe Rushen, who has 24 goals from 20 appearances, cancelled out midfielder Egle Trezzi’s header in the second half.

Orient will be confident after their semi-final win against QPR and will be keen to snatch all three points to possibly climb to fourth in the league this weekend.

U’s News

Hosts Cambridge United currently occupy ninth place in the FA Women’s National League South East Division One table, having played 11 games and earning a total of 14 points.

Last time out, they faced St Ives Town Ladies in the County Cup and emerged triumphant with a 1-0 win thanks to Mollie Coupar’s goal.

The U’s most recent league game was a fortnight ago, where they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Stevenage Ladies with Victoria Neal scoring for the hosts.

Clinical Edge

For Orient, the likes of winger Hayley Barton will be somebody that Cambridge should be wary of with the winger bagging herself 10 goals from 19 games so far this season.

Cambridge’s top scorer, Kelley Blanchflower, has enjoyed a successful season netting nine goals from 19 appearances for her side.

Unhappy Hunting

Orient and Cambridge have played twice already this season. The U’s have come out on top on both occasions by three goals to nil, once in the league and once in the second round of the FA Women’s National League Cup.

When and Where?

The match takes place this Sunday 24th February at Mildenhall Town FC with kick-off scheduled for 14:00.
