Leyton Orient will be looking to delay a promotion party when they travel to face leaders Macclesfield Town in the Vanarama National League’s lunchtime kick-off on Saturday.

The O’s come into the match sitting 12th in the league with 53 points from 41 games -winning 14, drawing 11, and losing 16 with a goal difference of 1.

In their previous outing last weekend, Justin Edinburgh’s side saw off relegation-threatened Barrow 4-1 at Brisbane Road. The O’s fell behind to a Luke James header after six minutes, but were level when Dan Jones diverted Macauley Bonne’s header into his own net on 33 minutes.

Late in the second half, Josh Koroma nodded the hosts in front moments after coming on as a substitute. Soon after, the visitors saw Jones dismissed for a second bookable offence before Bonne bagged a late brace to lift Orient into the top half of the table.

The Opposition:

As for Macclesfield, they will go into this fixture sitting 12 points clear at the top of the National League as they edge closer to automatic promotion.

The Silkmen have collected 85 points from 43 games this season having won 25, drawn 10, and lost eight with a goal difference of 17.

In their last outing on Tuesday evening, a goal in each half from Tyrone Marsh saw Macclesfield beat play-off hopefuls Boreham Wood 2-0 in front of 602 fans.

Ones to Watch:

Orient defender Marvin Ekpiteta came off the bench as a first half substitute during Saturday’s victory over Barrow and produced an assured performance on his home debut. Ekpiteta joined the O’s from East Thurrock United in January and has been patient in his quest for first-team football. The central defender will be hoping his solid display last time out might earn him a place in the team for the trip to Macclesfield this weekend.

For Macclesfield, striker Tyrone Marsh has netted three goals in his last two league appearances. The 24-year-old has scored eight goals for the Silkmen this season and will be keen to add to that tally to push his side one step closer to promotion.
