Leyton Orient Women prepare to take on Enfield Town Ladies at Mile End Stadium this Sunday with kick-off at 2pm.

The east Londoners currently reside in sixth position in the FA Women’s National League South East Division One table, having achieved 12 points from eight games so far.

The O’s last match saw them draw 2-2 with Ipswich Town Ladies on home soil at Mile End Stadium.

Having trailed 1-0 at half-time before conceding early in the second half, Orient showed grit and determination to salvage a point thanks to goals from Egle Trezzi and Hayley Barton in the 81st and 90th minutes respectively.

In-Form Figures

As for the visitors, Enfield Town, they currently sit three places ahead of Orient in third spot with 16 points from eight games.

Enfield’s previous match saw the north London side win 2-0 against Actonians Ladies thanks to goals from Sasha Kelly and second half substitute Katherine Long.

Town finished six places behind Orient last season who sat fourth whereas the north London side only managed 10th.

Interestingly, the tables seem to have turned with Enfield three places ahead of Orient as it stands. Therefore, it could be a challenging test for the O’s against an improved opposition.

Goal Getters

Previous in-form scorer Lisa Fulgence has failed to find the net since the O’s 5-2 victory against AFC Phoenix in the Capital Cup, where the talented striker bagged herself a hat-trick.

Therefore, a key figure for Orient is scorer of the crucial goal in their previous game, Barton, whose late strike spared their blushes against Ipswich.

Enfield’s Molly Peters will be one to watch against Orient having scored an impressive nine goals in 12 appearances, surprisingly she failed to score against Actonians last Sunday.

Peters’ last goal, like Fulgence, came three games ago in Enfield’s 3-2 defeat against Billericay Town Ladies.

History Books

Orient and Enfield have faced each other twice before, the first meeting saw the O’s record a monstrous 9-0 victory on 10th September last season at Mile End Stadium.

Two goals each from Sophie Le Marchand, Chanel Richards and Ella Meadowcroft alongside individual strikes from Danielle Griffiths, Egle Trezzi and Hayley Barton secured the points that day.

Following this show stopping win, the teams met again on the last day of the 2017-18 season with the match finishing in a 0-0 draw at the QE Stadium.

Tough To Call

Looking back at past results between the teams, it will be hard to predict which way the pendulum will swing this Sunday. Undoubtedly, both teams will meet in east London determined for a win that would lift them further up the South East Division One table.
