Leyton Orient Women are preparing to take on Norwich City Ladies in the FA Women’s National League at Plantation Park this Sunday.

The O’s last game saw them progress to the Capital Cup semi-finals after beating Haringey Borough Women in a 5-2 showstopper.

This strong performance saw a hat-trick from right midfielder Hayley Barton, amongst further goals from captain Danielle Griffiths and Chanel Richards.

Following their last game, the O’s currently reside in fifth position with 15 points from nine league games.

Fine Form

Hat-trick scorer Hayley Barton has had a strong run of games having netted nine goals in her past 13 appearances, consecutively scoring in the past three matches. Barton will be one to watch for Leyton Orient having surpassed striker Lisa Fulgence as the O’s top scorer.

She trails closely behind Barton having scored eight goals in 11 appearances. Fulgence’s last goal came against AFC Phoenix in the Capital Cup five games ago where she bagged a hat-trick.

Fulgence will be hoping to get back on track and add to her scoring streak while Barton will want to maintain her stellar form this weekend.

Staggered Start

Hosts Norwich City Ladies approach this match with a game in hand, having achieved seven points from eight games leaving them five places behind the O’s in 10th.

The Canaries last game saw them suffer a 3-2 loss against Acle United in the County Cup. Despite this defeat, Natasha Snelling and Kathryn Stanley managed to notch a goal each.

Kate Parsons and Jodie Drake miss upcoming games following suspension, with Drake absent for the next three matches and Parsons only out for one game.

With both players missing, Norwich may be feeling wary as they look to replace two players ahead of this encounter.

They may lack some belief after the defeat to Acle United, whereas Orient are brimming with confidence following their smashing win last time out.

Eyes For Goal

Last week’s goal scorers Snelling and Stanley will no doubt be hoping to find the net again this weekend.

Top scorer Chelsea Garrett will be one to watch this Sunday with nine goals in eight appearances, so Orient goalkeeper Naomi Ogunde might have her work cut out.

Interestingly, Garrett’s last goals came four matches ago when she netted a hat-trick against Enfield Town Ladies.

When and Where?

Orient will make the trip to Norwich this Sunday looking to maintain their good form. The venue for this clash is Norwich United FC, Plantation Road, Blofield, NR13 4PL with kick-off at 2pm.
