Leyton Orient Women are preparing to take on Ipswich Town Ladies in the FA Women’s National League South East Division One this Sunday at 2pm.

This will see the teams play each other for the first time this season.

Orient will be wary due to their home form which has seen them win only one of their four home matches, drawing one and losing the other two.

In their last game, the O’s suffered an away loss to Cambridge United Women in the FA Women’s National League Cup second round, closely mirroring their result against the U’s in the league during August.

Orient currently sit sixth in the table having collected 11 points from seven games, while their tally of 24 goals this season is three more than their opponents.

Opposition Profile

Ipswich Town Ladies arrive at Mile End following their 2-1 win against Ipswich Wanderers Ladies in the County Cup last Sunday.

The visiting side are displaying strong, consistent form following their last league game which saw them overcome Denham United Ladies with a 4-0 win. They sit fifth in the table but level on points with the O’s having played eight games.

Ones to Watch

Orient striker Lisa Fulgence poses a threat with a record of eight goals in the 10 games she has started. However, she went without scoring in both the Actonians and Cambridge matches which could provide Ipswich with some confidence ahead of this encounter. It will be interesting to see if Fulgence can get her scoring streak back on track this weekend.

Meanwhile, right midfielder Hayley Barton will be one to keep an eye on after scoring two goals in the last league match against Actonians.

Ipswich will be bringing the likes of top scorer Natasha Thomas who has scored five goals in eight games. Thomas’ stats fail to match up to the likes of Fulgence but could be a problem for Orient on Sunday.

Previous Performances

A a 2-1 win over the visitors in their last encounter will surely put the O’s in high spirits, although, the East Londoners fell short last season finishing in fifth place with 39 points, behind Ipswich who were just ahead on 48 points.

Steady Progress

The O’s last league game saw them face Actonians Ladies at Mile End, where they walked away with 3-2 victory.

A win for the O’s on Sunday could see them jump to third place, ahead of their opponents Ipswich, in a bid to climb closer to the top of the South East Division One table.
