Leyton Orient Women travel to face top of the table Crawley Wasps Ladies in the FA Women’s National League at Oakwood FC this Sunday.

The O’s currently reside in fourth position in the South East Division One table having achieved a total of 21 points from 12 matches.

Orient have recorded six wins, three losses and three draws with a goal difference of seven.

They were due to face Cambridge United Women last Sunday however, the match was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

In their previous outing, they catapulted into third place with a 3-0 victory against Luton Town Ladies at Mile End thanks to strikes from Chloe McNee, Camila Pescatore and a Grace Stewart own goal.

With Actonians Ladies having overtaken the east London side by a minor two points, Orient will aim to close that gap this Sunday.

Wasps Buzzing

Powerhouse side Crawley Wasps currently occupy top spot in the FA Women’s National League South East Division One with a 100% record having played three games less than Orient.

Their results have been thoroughly successful, seeing them collect maximum points from nine matches and possessing a stomping goal difference of 41.

However, Wasps’ last match saw them lose 2-1 at the hands of Chichester City Ladies in the County Cup, their first defeat of the season.

Free Scoring

Leyton Orient’s current top scorer, Hayley Barton, could be a threat for top of the table Crawley Wasps having bagged six goals in 12 matches.

The winger’s last goal came during their 2-3 defeat against Stevenage Ladies on 6th January.

Matching up to the likes of Barton are Crawley’s Kemina Webber and Emma Plewa, who have been on fire this season hitting the net on 12 occasions.

Webber has had a successful season so far, scoring in every one of her 12 appearances, closely followed by Plewa’s handful of goals.

Rivals Reunited

No doubt both Leyton Orient and Crawley Wasps will be excited ahead of the game this Sunday having not met for the past two seasons.

In 2017, they competed in the same league and met for the London and South East Regional Women’s Football League Cup final.

Goals from Jasmine Campbell, Sophie Le Marchand and Hayley Barton saw Orient complete the league and cup double that season.

Both teams are capable of putting on an exciting performance, while Orient will hope they can keep up their steady form and reclaim third position in the league.
