The Os were gifted the chance to go ahead just a minute into the game when forward Danny Johnson jumped on a loose back pass from Wanderers’ defender Alex Baptiste before being brought down by goalkeeper Billy Crellin inside the box. The 27-year-old then stepped up to take the penalty himself, however, he saw his effort impressively saved by Crellin.

Seven minutes later Johnson bagged his ninth goal of the season when he tapped in from close range after clever work from winger James Brophy getting to the by-line and sending the ball across goal following a corner which Wanderers failed to deal with.

Wide open

Bolton had a chance to get back into the game when a cross from forward Nathan Delfounseo found a wide-open Harry Brockbank at the back post who then headed the ball over from direct range.

Orient then went on to double their lead in the 41st minute after striker Connor Wilkinson was brought down on the edge of the box. Captain Jobi McAnuff then stepped up before whipping the ball tremendously into the top corner.

Three minutes later The Os were given another set-piece opportunity, however despite McAnuff’s efforts only a few minutes before he allowed Wilkinson the honours against his former team, and the forward did not disappoint, sending the ball over the wall and into the bottom right corner continuing his fine form which has seen him score in each of The O’s past three games.

Pick of the bunch

The goals continued well into the second half, excellent work once again from Brophy feeding Craig Clay on the edge of the 18-yard box. Not wanting to be outdone by the two goals before, the central midfielder scored the pick of the bunch, teeing himself up before effortlessly seeing the ball fly into the top corner leaving Wanderers’ goalkeeper Crellin frozen.

The victory now sees Orient continue to climb the table up to 11th with their third win in four games. The win saw them break Wanderers three-game unbeaten streak and send them down to 19th.

Next up for Leyton Orient is a big away clash vs sixth place Forest Green Rovers where a win could see Orient overtake Rovers following their 2-1 loss to Cheltenham Town
