The Breyer Group Stadium will host Sunday’s FA Women’s National League South East Division One fixture between Leyton Orient Women and Norwich City Ladies.

Orient normally play their home games at Mile End Stadium, so playing at the 9000+ capacity ground promises to be a special occasion.

The O’s women played at Brisbane Road twice last season and speaking about the experience manager Chris Brayford said:

“It’s a great day, the players really enjoy it. There’s a real nice atmosphere and also in the past games we’ve had there it’s been great, and as its free admission for U-18s you get a lot of families along.”

Attracting Attention

Brayford also believes the playing surface at Brisbane Road will give his side a better chance of winning the game:

“The pitch is beautiful. It’s a big pitch as well which I think suits us because we do try to play football.”

The game gives Brayford the chance to showcase his side, who currently sit third in South East Division One. With hopes that this match will attract new fans of the team, he said:

“I know quite a few in the past who’ve seen it and said that the women play good football, hopefully it raises our profile a little bit and gets the team a little bit more attention and credit.”

Confidence Flowing

This will be Orient’s penultimate home game of the season and they go into the game in good form, unbeaten in their previous four matches, including last time out when they notched an impressive 3-1 victory away at AFC Wimbledon Ladies.

Brayford’s side have also been hugely successful in cup competitions this season, having reached the final of both the Isthmian and Capital Cups, with those games to be played on April 17th and May 2nd respectively.

When and Where?

The match kicks off at 2pm on Sunday with admission via the West Stand. Admission is free for under-18s and if you hold a season ticket for the men’s side. Alternatively, tickets can be bought on the turnstiles for only £3.
