As COVID-19 keeps spreading around the world, forcing more and more countries to go into lock down, many events are being cancelled or postponed.

Here are five events we surely won’t miss!

1 Baby Shark Live

If you are one of those people that hated the annoying YouTube hit song “Baby Shark”, you’ll be pleased to know Baby Shark Live has been postponed until next Autumn. The show was up for a big tour around the U.S. and Canada, landing in cities like Seattle and Los Angeles. So, for all the American and Canadian parents out there: you are safe and sound for now. Enjoy this summer and postpone thinking about it until Autumn, when I’m sure your children will ask you to take them to see it (assuming we’re allowed out by then).

2 Euro 2020

I know hard-core football fans around the world were probably locked in their rooms crying for a week when they heard the news that Euro 2020 would be postponed until 2021 (What are they going to call it – Euro 2020-21?). Growing up in Italy, where football is the air people breathe every day, made me hate it with a passion. So the news was sort of a relief for me, as I won’t have to hear people screaming on the streets almost every night and I’ll be able to enjoy a drink in a bar where no screen is tuned to the match of the day.

3 Eurovision Song Contest

That well-known event held every May in a different European country has been cancelled for the first time since it started 65 years ago. Having watched the contest once with friends just for a laugh, I am delighted to hear it will be skipping a year. Once is enough to get the joke, and it doesn’t bear repeating! The fact that lasts several hours doesn’t help, either. Apart from a couple of nice ones occasionally, most of the songs are torture to listen to. So, this year let’s all listen to some proper music and forget about this terrifying contest for as long as we can.

4 Coachella

When the news broke that Coachella was going to be postponed until October, I could almost hear all the fashion-bloggers and wannabes screaming at their brand-new I-phones in agony. Let’s be clear, I love music and there’s nothing wrong with the idea behind this event. The bands performing are often amazing and I’ve always loved how the event leaves space for emerging artists.  What I can’t stand is my social media feed being flooded with pictures of fashion bloggers and actors – people who don’t seem to care about indie music all year long, suddenly becoming hippie and alternatives for ten days, only to go back to wearing Gucci the week after.

5 Fast & Furious 9

The premiere of the latest Fast & Furious movie was set for May, but will now be postponed until April 2021. Not being a huge fan of the franchise, I was quite happy to hear of the delay. Although Fast & Furious is one of the most famous sagas of our generation, I have never understood the appeal of it. Every single one of those movies has the same ingredients: cars exploding, spies, heists and no plot whatsoever. So, for all the fans out there who are sad because of the movie’s postponement, I just want to say: “Hey, don’t feel down! Just watch Fast & Furious 8… or 7… or 6…and tell yourself you’re watching the new one. I bet you won’t be able to spot the difference!”
