Who Is Your Idol?

“From an athletics point, I wouldn’t say my idol was Usain Bolt, my idol was Justin Gatlin because his form and his speed and the way he runs is literally the same way I run.

“I understand he had his allegations, but personally watching him I was blown away.  But now I would say my idol is Trayvon Bromell who is an American sprinter and he’s been through a lot and motivates me to think that anything can happen.

“He’s been injured for 4-5 years and he’s running like he hasn’t been injured and is still in the scene of things.”

What Is Your Dream Goal In Athletics?

“My dreams and goals for athletics is to be the best. If you’re not the best then why are you really in the sport? Because for me, I’ve started slow and built up slow.

“At first I was aiming to get the women’s times and now that I can equal that, I’m even running faster.

“Now I’m progressing to England and now I’m running for Great Britain and I’m slowing progressing from there. Now my aim and goals in athletics is to be the best.

“One day I’d like to be an Olympic champion, but for now we just to wait and see what the journey looks like.”

Does Anyone Else In Your Family Do Athletics?

“My older brother does athletics and my mum used to run back in the day and run 800 to 1,500 metres. She used to be the top dog back in school.

“But right now it’s just my brother who does athletics and we both battle it out when it comes to a championship race when we’ve both in the finals.”

What Is It About The Sport That You Enjoy The Most?

“With the sport, track and field, what I enjoy the most is improving. When I improve I know my capability and it just motivates me in another way knowing that I can run better and faster.

“When I run faster I ask myself how fast can I run. So it motivates me and pushes me to actually work my hardest to see where I can be in the future.

“That’s what I think athletics should be about. It’s to try and better yourself and not think what a person should be doing. If you better yourself, everything you need to do will just come in easily.”

How Are Your Coaches Like? Do They Help You Improve?

“I’ve only been with two coaches. One has looked after me more than the other. Both coaches have always seen improvements. But, at the same time, if something isn’t going well, sometimes you just have to make the adjustments and leave to another coach.

“I’m not saying coaches are bad, but a change is always good because a certain knows one thing, but if you go to a coach with full of experience, then you can learn more.

“The coaches I’ve had in the past have all been good. No one has ever done anything bad, we’ve always been good and left it in good terms.

“If you’re not in good terms as a coach, then there’s no point in coaching because you’re going to enjoy training. And when you enjoy training, you run better and you improve as an athlete and that’s what we’re here to do.”
