With West Ham defeating Leeds in a comeback victory, the East London based club sit at a more-than-comfortable fifth spot in the table. The recent form of the Hammers has got a lot of fans excited about the amazing job that David Moyes has done since being reappointed.

A Footballing Revolution

Experts such as Roshane Thomas, West Ham correspondent for The Athletic have been singing the praises of this new-look side.

“This is the new and improved West ham now, I feel like dancing to be honest because I’m so excited right now,” said Thomas.

“When you think of West Ham, you think of a team that tends to just survive. But now under Moyes, it’s like he wants to build the team in his vision and challenge up the table. The team has been in great progress since Moyes has been reappointed.”

European Dreams

The award-winning journalist believes that if the Irons keep up their form, they could be in contention to play on the European stage by the end of the season.

“He wants to challenge for a European spot, and there’s no reason why West Ham can’t do that on the basis of what I’ve seen so far this season.

“That or top eight, top six, I feel like that’s very realistic. Provided you achieve that, you then build on that for next season and really push your recruitment over the summer and hopefully bring in good players in January.”

New-Found Resilience

West Ham are currently without their key man Michail Antonio, yet they’re still managing to achieve results. For the match against Leeds, Moyes changed their formation from the usual 5-4-1 to 4-4-1-1 to accommodate the injuries.

“We should’ve scored more than two goals, we created so many chances and looked great on the offensive.”

The Athletic reporter applauded the players for their efforts this season despite injuries and believes Saïd Benrahma reminds him of a former Hammers favourite.

“Benrahma was finally unleashed and he… oh my god he reminds me so much of Dimitri Payet, the ways he’s dribbling past players and doing crazy tricks.”

“Soucek was brilliant again, Rice is playing great, Bowen is linking up well with the others. Cresswell providing a great ball, that was his fourth assist season, he’s just doing superbly right now. All in all, everything is so positive right now. I can’t think of the last time when things were this positive at West Ham. The boys are doing well and potentially challenging for something good this season.”

West Ham will be hoping to keep up their run of form over the busy Christmas period where they face Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Brighton, Southampton and Everton. With the second half of the season on the horizon, the sky is the limit for this exciting Irons side.
