Blackheath have put a poor run of results behind them with back-to-back to wins to consolidate fourth place and will be keen to continue the momentum when they travel to Sale.

Sale have also won two consecutive games after a small blip earlier in the month as they themselves look to push up the table.

Recent Form

After close-fought losses to championship rivals Rosslyn Park and Ampthill, along with a 22-27 defeat at home to Cambridge, Blackheath have bounced back when it was needed most. A 17-27 win away from home at Birmingham Mosely and a more convincing, 46-32 win over Caldy at Well Hall has seen the South-London side hold on to any hope of promotion.

Sale FC have been on a similar run of their own, slumping to defeat against Rosslyn Park and league leaders Old Elthamians, before strong wins against Birmingham Mosely and fellow mid-table side Darlington Mowden Park, scoring over 30 points in both games.

In the reverse fixture between the two sides, Blackheath secured a convincing win, with a bonus point 41-24 win at Well Hall.

That fixture was the first time the sides had met in league action since the restructuring of the league following Sale’s promotion from National League Two North last season.

Defence vs Attack

Despite Sale sitting in mid table, they have one of the worst defensive records in the league, shipping 652 points in the 23 games they’ve played, an average of 28 per game. With Blackheath having gathered 11 winning bonus points this season, a high-scoring game looks likely.

As well as this, both sides’ respective home and away form is remarkably similar.

On the road, Blackheath have eight wins from the 12 they’ve played, with a draw coming against Cinderford. Sale have also secured eight home wins, suffering defeat on only three occasions.

The game kicks off at the CorpAcq Stadium on Saturday March 2nd.
