After a late victory last week against Essex, Ryan Gordon’s side turned it on this week as they suffocated Brighton 7-0 at home.

Last week’s hero, Peter Ojimen, grabbed another goal in back-to-back games as the centre-back and opened the flood gates with a header just nine minutes into the match.

Endure

As the game started to find its flow in the first half, both teams had to endure playing in a bit of rain which did not slow down the UEL side one bit.

The big number nine up top for UEL, Mohammed Allie, added a second goal for the home side with a right-foot finish, allowing his side to relax a little as this game started to look much different than the one last week.

With a bit more freedom for the home team after going up by two, the captain Jon Sanchez decided to make a striker-esque run from the back into the box to score with his right foot 33 minutes into the match.

Smiles

Considering how cold it was on the day, he celebrated it the only way he knew how to, by stripping off his top and running back to the halfway line as his teammates swarmed him with smiles all around.

As the first half wound down it was not all smiles on the bench however from coach Gordon as Dan Medina went in for a dangerous tackle on a Brighton player and received a straight red card from the referee.

The first half finished 3-0, but the next challenge for the East London side was to see if they could hold onto the victory for the remaining 45 minutes.

After the team talk, Gordon elected for a 3-4-2 formation heading into the second half which allowed and saw the UEL team control most of the possession and create even more opportunities heading forward.

Capitalised

Michael Sarpong was the man that benefitted the most from this tactical change as he saw the ball at his feet near the goal twice and capitalised on both chances and rounded his hat trick off with a goal from the penalty spot.

Sarpong’s assists to Mustapha however were the cherry on the cake that even saw a little smile and a clap from the head coach Gordon, while the team celebrated an absolute beauty of a goal.

The East London team sits at the top of their division with 21 points after the victory and are looking to seal the title race off in the next few games.

The next game for the East London side is against St. Mary’s University which will be an away game on the 26th of December.
