- Blackhorse Lane Ateliers
Blackhorse Lane Ateliers is a Walthamstow-based company that makes selvage and organic raw denim jeans, which it then sells worldwide. Han, the founder, has vast experience in fashion designing and is committed to the local community, employing local machinists and offering them shared ownership of there enterprise. On the company website Han celebrates the role London has played in his life, and says he wants to give something back in return.

2. Made by Ore
Made of Ore is a jewellery company also based in Walthamstow. The company specialises in making and distributing quality jewellery, but also offers classes in jewellery making. The company is known for its silver smiting which has won it several awards. Made by Ore was launched in 2011 by Royal College of Art alumni Caren Hartley and Lucie Gledhill. 3. I Can Make Shoes
I Can Make Shoes is a shoe making school located in Bethnal Green. Since its inception, the school has teamed up with Brooklyn Shoe Space in New York to offer some of its courses there. The school offers a flexible approach that allows students to also work at home, and judging by the feedback on the company website, the formula is a great success: “I had a wonderful time and had managed to spend the time to sand and wax my soles and heels.
