It really has been quite a brilliant few days for The O’s, booking their place at Wembley for the FA Trophy final with a thrilling 3-1 aggregate win over AFC Telford United on Saturday.

Macauley Bonne struck in the first leg, while Matt Harrold and cult hero Josh Coulson scored in the second to send Orient to Wembley.

Returning to league action on Tuesday night, an excellent and professional performance saw Orient run out 2-0 winners over play-off chasing AFC Fylde in E10.

Both goals came in the first half from Marvin Ekpiteta and Bonne. This caps off an excellent few days for everyone associated with the football club.

With eight games to go, who stands in Orient’s way in their push for automatic promotion, and how is the squad looking going in to the business end of the season?

Potential Decider

Orient have been handed three home assignments and five away tests, including the second to last game of the season away at Solihull Moors, who at the time of writing are second in the league.

This could make for an enthralling encounter should the two sides still be occupying the top two spots come Easter Monday.

Defensive Casualties

The O’s have recently been bolstered by the return of wonderkid Josh Koroma from injury, which will boost both his and the squad’s confidence no end.

The east-Londoners have had their fair share of injury’s this season however, with the fullbacks currently dominating the treatment room.

Sam Ling and Myles Judd are both injured while the man who replaced them in the right-wing back role, Jamie Turley, hobbled off injured in the 2-0 victory over AFC Fylde.

Promotion Goals

The goals have dried up for Orient’s attackers recently too, with Bonne’s strike against Fylde his first in the league since netting a brace in the 3-0 win over Maidstone United on 26th February.

Having said that, the aforementioned return of Josh Koroma along with Jay Simpson, James Alabi and Matt Harrold all pushing for a starting place, it would be unfair to suggest they lack depth in the forward positions.

O’s fans will be hoping the goals will continue to flow from all over the pitch, as they have been, as they embark on a vital run-in to the end of the campaign.
