The Indoor Cricket season is back, with the first round of the BUCS league taking place in Canterbury on Saturday.

The UEL first team made it to the national finals last year and they will be vying to go even further this time out.

UEL coach Arfan Akram is confident his side has what it takes to do just that, “We have the same core of the team as last year, so I have high hopes to take one step further this time around”.

The first team will play three games on Saturday, starting against the UEL second team.

This will be followed by fixtures against University College London first and second teams.

No Fear Of The Unknown

The east Londoners did not play against any UCL side last year, so their opponents will be an unknown entity for the East Londoners.

This will not change UEL’s no fear attitude that was their brand in last year’s competition, so there is no reason why they shouldn’t be able to overcome UCL.

Point To Prove

The same cannot be said for their first opponents. The first team ran out comfortable winners last time they played so the second team will have a point to prove.

Akram is glad to see that the second team are competing as he has a chance to see the new students in action, “We are super excited to see our new students represent our second team and hopefully push for a place in the first team”.

Three out of three will be the objective heading into Saturday, anything less could see the side struggle to emulate last year’s success.

There is nothing to suggest that they will struggle as they will continue to play their attractive brand of cricket that saw them go so far last year.
