This Week, University of East London women’s hockey team face Royal Veterinary College Women’s 2nd away from home. The game was previously scheduled for the 30th January, but was cancelled at the last minute due to a frozen pitch.

The Blues are positive ahead of this match, and they will be looking to add another win to their current two and gain some more well-earned points enabling them to climb further up the table.

Previous Stint

Last Wednesday, UEL suffered an unlucky 1-0 defeat at the hands of King’s College London 5th (GKT). The team travelled to Honor Oak Park with only 11 players, including missing Captain Laura Pakenham and were unable to get on the score sheet.

UEL currently sit fourth in their league, the South Eastern 4B division, with three more fixtures lined up before the end of the season. Many teams only have one fixture left, so it will be a tough few weeks for the team, but they are motivated to keep momentum till the end of the season.

The University of Hertfordshire women’s 2nd team have now been confirmed as the team being relegated from the league this year, meaning UEL are officially safe from relegation, despite the previous minor worries.

Opposition’s Troubles

Royal Veterinary College Women’s 2nd currently sit second bottom of the league, two points behind UEL. The two teams are yet to meet this year.

UEL are positive going into the game this week with their opposition only winning one game this season against bottom of the league, University of Hertfordshire Womens 2nd.

But last week, Royal Veterinary College Women’s 2nd lost 3-1 to the University of Hertfordshire Womens 2nd, which was that team’s first win of the season. UEL will look to take advantage of this and walk away with some points.

Game Day

The game is scheduled for Wednesday the 25th of February with pushback at 3:30pm and the Blues will travel to their opponent’s home turf the Furzfield Centre.
