University of East London women’s hockey team this week will come up against University of the Arts London women’s 1st at home.

The Blues will be looking to continue their winning ways, gain some more points and carry on climbing the table despite a tough opponent.

Last Week’s Feats

Last Wednesday, UEL beat University of Hertfordshire women’s 2nd team 1-0 away from home. The team travelled to the Hertfordshire Sports Village with only nine players, and they were able to do the double over them.

After this result, UEL have moved up to fourth in the table with a total seven points, but they still have three games in hand of their league opponents, so the opportunity to climb up the table and gain some extra points is still there.

They’re comfortably out of the relegation zone now but UEL will be looking to widen the gap between themselves and the teams below them and continue from their gained momentum in this week’s match.

The Challenger

University of the Arts London women’s 1st currently sit second in the league with 12 points on the board having played seven out of a possible eight games so far.

Earlier in the season, the away fixture saw UEL suffer an embarrassing 7-0 defeat. Since then, the Blues have made many additions to the team, the team individually has improved and have continued bonding together and are confident it will not happen again.

University of the Arts London Women’s 1st will be looking to close the gap on league leaders, University of Greenwich 1st despite their chances of promotion now being very thin. Last week they were nine points behind them but were unable to field a team for their match and conceded a walk over.

Where?

The game will take place on Wednesday the 13th of February with pushback scheduled for 3pm at home turf Lee Valley Tennis and Hockey Centre.
