UEL and City University London go head to head in pivotal title clash at SportsDock this Sunday.

Both sides are in with a massive shout of the league this season, and UEL coach Trevor Tamatave is well aware of the importance of the tie.

Must-Win

“It’s a big game and we know we have to win it.” Claimed Tamatave, “It will be tough, City are a good side and they showed that the last time we played them. We have to be focused on Sunday, it’s a must-win game.”

City sit in second place on 18 points, behind league leaders Queen Mary on their head-to-head record. Meanwhile, UEL sit in third place on 15 points with a game in hand on the other two challengers.

A win would deliver the title back into the hands of UEL, and give them the chance to go three points clear if they win their game in hand. However, with Queen Mary not playing until the 17th of March, a City win would send them three points clear at the top of the table.

Revenge

City will be full of confidence approaching this tie, as they ran out 18-11 victors in the reverse fixture earlier this month, a result which ended UEL’s 100% record this season.

The Blues, who were without several key players back then, will still be without captain James Rene but are hoping to have a much stronger squad as they look to get revenge on their title rivals.

Both sides come into the game off the back of impressive results, UEL running riot in a 15-3 win over Essex University 2nd’s while City saw off Essex University’s first team 10-5. With both teams now in high spirits and full of believe, the match promises to be as exciting as it is vital.
