The UEL Women’s second team are playing their final game of the season as they battle against the London Met University first team on the 11th of March at SportsDock, tip-off at 4pm.

High Stakes

UEL are currently placed second in the Women’s South Eastern Tier 3B table and need a win to secure that runner-up spot on the year and would finish three points behind the already confirmed league champions Westminster.

London Met are placed third and still have two more games to play on the season, one against the East London side and their last match-up against winless UAL. Interestingly, if the away team can win both games, they would move into second place, overtaking UEL.

UEL had a rough start to the season, losing by 39 points to the leaders Westminster but since then have bounced back to win every league game they have played.

‘We Know How Talented We Are’

Guard Saffia Omar realises the importance of finishing the season on a high, saying “Of course it would be great for us to get the win, we haven’t lost for a very long time, and we know how talented we are as a team.”

When asked if they were disappointed with where they finished in the league table, Omar said “With a lot of new girls being on the team, personally I think it’s been a successful year for us. When we played Westminster, they were a hard team to play and they probably deserve to win the whole thing.”
