UEL Women’s Volleyball first team will be looking to pick up their seventh win of the season as they take on Oxford University at SportsDock on Wednesday.

The east Londoners comfortably dispatched Cambridge University 3-0 last week thanks to a resolute team performance.

Arela Williams and Maddison Powell impressed in the win that keeps UEL’s title hunt on track after their 3-2 defeat to Essex two weeks ago.

Team Effort

Coach Jefferson Williams said he was happy that his side were able to control the match against Cambridge:

“We didn’t know much about Cambridge, but based on results from their previous matches we assumed it would be a comfortable win for the UEL ladies and this proved to be the case.

“Despite making a number of unforced errors across the three sets played, it was still a decent performance. We controlled all aspects of the games and never felt threatened. We were able to play all squad members and all players contributed to the 3-0 win.”

Right Result

Oxford are currently in fourth place after a 3-1 victory over Bristol last week. The two sides have met before this season with UEL running out 3-0 winners, and Williams is hoping for more of the same on Wednesday:

“We won the first leg 3-0 and are expecting a similar result this time round. We aim to give everyone some court time whilst ensuring that we get the desired result.

“We currently sit top of the Premier League South and if we win all our remaining matches 3-0, we should once again be crowned Champions of the South Division.”

When and Where?

The match is scheduled for a 13:30 start at SportsDock this Wednesday 28th November.
