UEL Women’s Basketball first team prepare to take on Oxford University at SportsDock in the four o’clock tip-off this Wednesday.

The hosts currently sit fourth in the Premier South table, having collected six points from five games. They walked away with a 65-59 win against Hertfordshire University at SportsDock last week.

Without doubt, UEL will be approaching this game with confidence after their second victory of the season last week. Last month, they faced this week’s visitors Oxford and produced a show stopping 23-point performance.

Early Hurdles

UEL’s struggles have shown not only in their lack of points, but they have failed to defend effectively with a goal difference of -12.

Heading into this match, the home side will be looking to improve that goal difference, securing more points to climb up the table.

Evidently, promotion from the South Eastern 1A has proven difficult for UEL. However, things could be looking up if they can bring their good form from last week into this encounter.

Torrid Start

As for opponents, Oxford, they have failed to put on a good performance this season, sitting bottom of the table having lost all seven games.

Last time out, Oxford suffered an agonising one-point loss against London South Bank University.

Their lack of success this season has been reflected by a monstrous negative goal difference of -294 this season, following seven straight defeats.

High Stakes

It will be an equally good test for both sides, UEL are looking to build on their good work last week while Oxford need to get some points on the board prior to Christmas.

Undoubtedly, UEL are the favourites for this clash and their most recent victory demonstrates they can step up to the challenge and provide a path to climbing up the table.
