UEL Titans’ Pre-Season Struggles

Jahin Muhammad reports on a tricky a pre-season match for the UEL Titans, and looks ahead to the start of the campaign proper.

It was a day to forget for the UEL Titans as their first pre-season fixture against the City Sentinels ended in a 2-0 defeat, with the only score of the game being a safety for the Sentinels.

Titans vs Sentinels

The Titans had a limited roster for the game as not enough players were available. Only 18 players out of 30 showed up which made things difficult for the side.

Nonetheless, the Titans managed to turn that into a positive, as players had to play on the defence and offence which showed the head coach that he has versatility amongst his team.

Sebastian Liggenstorfer who is a linebacker for the UEL Titans praised how his team had “great hustle and determination” to continue the match even with a disadvantage.

Although this is the first pre-season match, it gave everyone within the team the motivation to succeed and turn the disappointment of last season into something that the side can be proud of.

Looking Ahead

Even though the Titans first pre-season match ended in defeat, they can look forward to their next match up on Sunday when they take on Kings College Regents. It was a tough season last year for the Regents as they were relegated and are now playing in the 2A South London Division, the same division as the City Sentinels.

Kings College’s last game was against Southampton, which they won 42-28, and they’ll be looking to continue that form against the Titans. Meanwhile, UEL will be looking for their first win in pre-season.

This will be the first meeting between both sides since the competition began.
