Jake Collins is a West Ham fan who has been a season ticket holder for almost two years. He thinks highly of his the Hammers this season due to their outstanding performances so far.

West Ham are really doing well this season progressing in both the EFL Cup and Europa League. The Hammers are also joint fourth with Arsenal. It is going to be interesting to see if they can keep this up. What’s your thoughts on the season so far?

“Well I must say that I am really impressed with the squad so far with the way they have performed.  By being in the top four just before Christmas has made me so excited to see how West Ham can deliver throughout the rest of the season, despite there being big teams like Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool I have faith in the team.”

In the 2020/21 season, the Hammers didn’t play in any European competition. They didn’t qualify after finishing 16th in the previous season. West Ham’s sixth-place finish last season secured a place in the UEFA Europa League group stage for the first time in the club’s history. What does playing in the Europa league mean for West Ham?

“Playing in Europe is any team’s dream to be honest and right now David Moyes and the West Ham squad are currently making my dreams come true. Previously we have not been able to get past the qualifying round of the Europa league. However, we are looking at going through into the next stage of the cup.”

Currently West Ham are fourth with 23 points. The race for the top four is heating up with Arsenal fifth on the same points as West Ham, Wolves 6th with 20 points and Spurs 7th with 19 points. This is without mentioning Man Utd who are 9th with 17 points. Where do you think you’ll finish and why?

“I believe West ham we have the potential to finish in the top four of the Premier League because if we can keep up with the good performances in the league and also stay consistent then we have a huge chance to fulfil that potential.”

There has been many good performers so far this season. Players performing well has put West Ham in a good position to get top four. Who has been the stand out player this season?

“Ah this is a tough question. A stand out player for West Ham this season has been either our striker Michail Antonio or our captain Declan Rice. This is because Antonio has been in form this season and he is showing how much of a problem to defenders he is by scoring, he is also the Hammers leading goal scorer this season with seven goals in all competitions. Declan Rice has been unreal for us this season, he knows how to control the midfield and lead a team, even scored a couple goals for us and that is not really expected from a defensive midfielder.  So it is between the two kind of hard to pick one.”

There is still room for improve despite a sublime start to the season. West Ham have players who have contributed to the lows of this season. If they could improve upon this part of the team they would do even better. What is the weakest part of the team?

“I feel that our left back is the weakest area in the team. As much as I admire Aaron Cresswell for being at the club for seven years but I feel like his age is catching up to him especially in the Premier League because playing against younger and fitter wingers can be very hard. So I think West Ham should possibly invest in that position to help us become stronger.”

The Hammers have done really well in relation to their start to the season. West Ham have many players that have contributed to the highs of this season. Without these players it would be hard to imagine where West Ham would be. What is the strongest part of the team?

“I’d say our midfield, both Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek always do their job when it comes to breaking down play with their defensive attributes or even starting play. This is why David Moyes never keeps them out of the starting line-up because they never fail to impress him and us fans of the club.”
