London Lions forward Jordan Williams made his successful debut for Great Britain last week in their shock victory over Greece as they won 78-69 in their opening World Cup qualifier.

The 26 year old ended the game with three points and four rebounds which helped the team come from behind and outscore the former EuroBasket champions 22-12 in the final quarter.

Impressive Return

Since making his move back home to London, with the Lions in July after an impressive season with the Worcester Wolves.

Williams has been nothing but great for his debut season, averaging 16 points per game and averaging 10.5 rebounds too. This shows the capabilities of this player as he’s showing above average performances in the Lions outfit.

Season Highs

Picking up 21 points last month against his former team the Surrey Sorchers, Williams set his season high. He also got a season high in rebounds as the player got ten points in 38 minutes. But that was only the beginning as at that point he only played two games for the Lions.

Williams also scored only eight points last night in the Lions 107 – 80 victory over the Manchester Giants in the Copper Box Arena.

It’s going to be difficult for Williams to help be the teams brightest star when they’ve already got a superstar in Dirk Williams at their disposal. The American shooting guard got 30 points last night leading the Lions to victory. However, Jordan Williams still showed great promise within the match also getting three rebounds and three assists in his ten minute stint during the match.

Sleeping Lions

After missing out on the championship by two points last season finishing second to Leicester Riders, the Lions should be looking for revenge and to be dominating the league this season with arguably the best squad in the league.

But the Lions currently sit in fifth place after four games, which is quite disappointing for their quality on court. The difference between this season and last season is that now the Lions have another Williams, in Jordan.

With more minutes added to his game, who knows where he could take the Lions along with Dirk.

After breaking his scoring record last month against his former team after 38 minutes, that can only be the beginning for this bright star to help wake up the Lions and take them to championship glory by the end of the season.
