You Can Now Play Sims 4 For Free

Sim 4 is now free for all to play

The Sims 4 base game is now free as of the 18th of September 2022, as EA welcomes a new wave of simmers.

The Sims, a series of life simulation video games, was initially released in the early 2000s. There are currently four versions of the game with Sims 4 being released eight years ago on the 2nd of September 2014.

The game allows you to mimic your real life with complete control over what happens. A large percentage of Sims players use the game to escape their real life.

Recreating real-life scenarios in the game

There has been a mixed discussion on the game becoming free and what this means for current players within the Sims community.

Rising East spoke to East London-based gamers who currently play or have played The Sims 4.

Emilia is a gamer who has been playing The Sims 4 for the last four or five years.

“I usually go through phases where I play it every day for a couple of weeks and then ignore it for a couple of months.”

She expressed her excitement for the free version, stating, “I heard about the base game becoming free, and I got really excited for those who don’t have the game already!”

Emilia also shared her opinion on where the game could use improvement: “I do think one area where sims could be better is with the babies as you don’t really get to do much with them.”

Jason, another local gamer, sat down to comment on his experience as well. He explained his ‘purchase’ of the game stating, “I actually got the game itself for free. There was a bargain sale going on back then and I thought why not.”

When asked how he felt about the game becoming free, Jason expressed his support: “With the game becoming free, I think it’s a good call so that everybody can try it.”

Sims has announced that they will continue to update the game going into 2023 with finalised dates to be confirmed in the coming months.
