West Ham U23s continue their Premier League International Cup campaign with a trip to the People’s Pension Stadium to face Brighton and Hove Albion U23s.

The Hammers will be looking to build on the three points picked up in their opening two games.

Halajko’s Unit

Dmitri Halajko’s side have been working well as a unit, with his tactics and footballing philosophy starting to take effect on the squad.

The Hammers’ performances and results are testament to this, with the side sat comfortably at the top of PL2 and second in the PL International Cup group B.

Anthony Scully, Nathan Holland and Dan Kemp are players who have flourished under head-coach Halajko, with all three netting in the side’s most recent win over Aston Villa.

The Irons have already played Valencia and Wolfsburg in this competition, winning 1-0 and losing 2-3 respectively.

But with this being their opponent’s first fixture in the tournament, the east London side will be hoping their experience and fitness will give them an advantage.

Brighton have so far endured a sporadic season, with notable victories coming against Manchester City and Tottenham’s U23 sides.

Although, last time out, the Seagulls were on the wrong end of 3-5 defeat at home to Liverpool and confidence may understandably be low ahead of the clash at Victoria Road.

Victory this evening for West Ham would see the east London side place themselves within a strong position to advance to the knockout stages.
