Kwame Kufuor looks ahead to Charlton’s U21’s Premier League Cup tie against Huddersfield Town…

It’s the age old rivalry, North vs South that rears it’s head in this afternoon’s Cup battle between top of their tables, Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town in the U21’s Professional Development League Two (South and North regions respectively).

The winners of the Cup tie at the John Smith Stadium will progress to the last four of the 2015/16 U21 Premier League Cup.

The Addicks go into the game on the tails of two impressive back to back away wins, first against Bromley in the Kent Senior Cup and again, after staging a dramatic late-comeback against local rivals Crystal Palace to extend their unbeaten ran to 17 matches in all competitions. Late goals from Joe Aribo and Josh Umerah bagged the maximum points for the Addicks.

The hosts, Huddersfield Town U21’s go into the all-important quarter final knock out game on Monday also in good form, despite losing 2-0 away from home to Sheffield United last Tuesday.

The Terriers made it through to this stage after sweeping aside Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough at home before knocking out the holders Southampton in an exciting 2-0 away win at St Mary’s.

The Addicks reached the quarter final after brushing aside Ipswich Town, Watford and Brentford to reach the last eight.

Both Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town go into the game free from injuries. Kick off is at 1pm.
