Popular 90’s Essex singer Damon Albarn, well known for being a Blur and Gorillaz icon, has announced he will be doing a special and intimate piano tour in the UK this December.

This tour is in support of his new album The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows which was released earlier this month on the 12th November. The gigs will see Albarn be accompanied by only his piano.

Albarn’s new album includes songs like “Royal Morning Blue” and “The Cormorant”. It has been described to be “emotionally heavy going” which is a different approach to his music that we have seen him produce in the past with Blur and Gorillaz.

The singer, who originates from Whitechapel, explained how this album was a way to help lift him out of the “storms” of the outside world and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“I just felt like the beginning of this year was so grim and I had to do something to lift me out of those, I wouldn’t call doldrums, but storms – those terrible north wind storms that you get down by the sea in Devon sometimes,” he explained to NME.
