Charlton Athletic’s 1-0 win away at Doncaster Rovers made it three wins in a row for Johnnie Jackson’s men as they aim to secure a top-half Sky Bet League One finish.

Sweet 16 For Stockley

Striker Jayden Stockley’s goal in the 66th minute secured the win for the Addicks, although in truth the side should have scored more having had 16 shots – nine of which were on target – and 53% possession.

A flurry of spurned chances in the first-half meant the scores were level at half-time. Conor Washington had his penalty saved in the 15th minute, as Doncaster keeper Jonathan Mitchell dived low to his left to save a tame effort from the Northern Irish forward.

Maintaining Momentum

The win takes the south Londoners up to 14th – 15 points clear of the relegation zone – and ends any worries of the side getting dragged into an end-of-season relegation fight.

With 20 points separating them from the play-offs, however, the Addicks cannot go up, so Jackson’s men will be hoping to keep momentum up heading into the new season.
