The London Lions incurred their second loss on the trot with a 92-100 defeat against the Glasgow Rocks in the British Basketball League Championship.

The first quarter saw the Lions quickly gain the upper hand, staying consistent with their shooting and building an early lead. The returning Isaiah Reese lead the way for London in the opening quarter, shooting 61% from the field en route to a 20-point performance. The Rocks had difficulty dealing with the Lions’ offensive pressure, while struggling to make baskets of their own. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 31–22 in favour of the Lions.

Pressure

The Lions continued to control the game into the second quarter, displaying good movement both on and off the ball, continuing to apply pressure and maintain their lead. The Rocks began to find their way back into the game, however, grabbing both offensive and defensive rebounds, while not letting the scoreline get out of hand. Despite this, the Lions still controlled the game, leading 47-37 at halftime.

Glasgow came out in the third quarter showing a bit more determination, scoring in their first three plays of the quarter. The Lions kept pace with the rejuvenated Rocks, with small forward Lorenzo Cugini finding his shooting form after a scoreless first half. Towards the end of the third quarter, Glasgow’s top scorer Jordan Harris was ejected after his second technical foul, swaying momentum back in favour of London. The third quarter finished 77–65 to the Lions.

Control

The Rocks came alive as the fourth quarter began and started to close the gap on the Lions. The Glasgow side were able to catch up on the back of hitting three consecutive 3-point shots. The Rocks took firm control of the game, creating a lead of their own and eventually putting the game out of reach for the Lions. Jordan Johnson and Jaycee Hillsman made the difference for the Rocks, scoring 37 and 19 points respectively as the match finished 92–100 to the visitors.

Looking ahead, The Lions travel to Bristol with hopes of stopping their losing skid against the Flyers on the 26th of April at 19:30.
