On the 28th of January 2023 east London’s own Anthony Yarde, 31, looks to shock the world as he takes on unbeaten unified Light Heavyweight Champion Artur Beterbiev, 37, at the SSE Wembley Arena.

This is by far the toughest test of Yarde’s career, only having one world title fight which ended in defeat against Sergey Kovalev, 39, in 2019. Almost nobody thinks Yarde will dethrone the undefeated knockout artist.

“I’m Going To Shook Up The World”

However, although he’s regarded as an underdog the Ilford fighter doesn’t seem to be lacking in any confidence.

In a recent interview with IFL TV, Yarde quoted one of the greatest fighters of all time Muhammad Ali, “I’m going to shook up the world”.

Home Advantage For Yarde

Yarde will have the home advantage but that won’t seem to intimidate Beterbiev.

The unbeaten Russian boasts an impressive 100% ko ratio and a world class amateur background, beating the likes of unified heavyweight Champion Oleksander Usyk.

Yarde on the other hand only had twelve amateur fights and started boxing relatively late, which makes many fans think this will be a one-sided contest.

No one can blame Yarde for jumping at an opportunity to fight for the world titles, but the fight that the British public have been calling for, is a domestic clash between South London’s Joshua Buatsi, 29.

Even if Yarde comes out unsuccessful in his challenge for world honours, that’s a fight that will always do big numbers in the UK and it’s a winnable career defining fight.
