The Citigold Canary Wharf Squash saw four Brits qualify through to the next round of the Citigold Wealth Management Squash Classic.

The ‘Peoples Sunday’ at Eastwinter Garden was full of exciting action as four Brits succeeded in making it to the next round including former number one, James Willstrop.

The Marksman expressed his excitement and playing at the event to PSA after his match:

“I want to be here tomorrow and play again in that atmosphere. This doesn’t happen by accident, and what a great crowd. It’s become one of the top events on the tour, and it’s certainly one of my favourites.”

The stand out player was 15-year-old Sam Todd who became the youngest player ever to participate in the tournament.

The World 494 seed has had great success in the British championships this year after reaching the final of the U17 and winning the U23 last month.

However, Frenchman Mathieu Castagnet came out on top and won his match in just 17minutes.

There were also victories for Borja Golan, Declan James, Raphael Kandra, Tom Richards, Joel Makin and Daryl Selby who will all play top 10 seeded players in the next round on Monday or Tuesday.
