Charlton will be looking to make it back-to-back league wins for the first time since November when they face Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

Lee Bowyer’s side will be buoyed by the 1-0 win at Wigan Athletic in midweek and have the chance to make it four wins in five on the road.

Oxford, managed by former Addicks boss Karl Robinson, come into the game on the back of a goalless draw against league leaders Peterborough and are currently sat in tenth place.

Team News

Darren Pratley is unavailable as he serves the final game of his two-match suspension, though midfielder Alex Gilbey (hamstring) could be in contention to make the matchday squad for the first time since late January.

Ryan Inniss remains sidelined with a quad injury that has kept him out for almost fourth months.

The hosts are yet to discover the extent of the injuries suffered by Sam Long (hamstring) and Elliot Lee (knee) on Tuesday, but the duo are expected to join long-term absentees John Mousinho (knee), James Henry (hamstring) and Marcus McGuane (thigh) on the injury table for Saturday’s encounter.

Robinson will have to make a late call on forward Sam Winnall who is awaiting a scan on his ankle.

Opposition Player To Watch

Jack Stevens

The 23-year-old came through the U’s academy and, after loan spells with Cirencester Town, Banbury United and Oxford City, made his first team bow during Charlton’s last visit to Oxfordshire on Good Friday in 2019.

Stevens has since firmly established himself as Robinson’s number one with nine clean sheets in 17 games so far this term and was in inspired form during the impressive shut out against Peterborough which saw him pick up the man of the match award. In doing so, he kept out the league’s top-scorer Jonson Clarke-Harris – a player who, before Tuesday, had eight goals in his last six League One outings.

The ‘keeper was recently rewarded with a new three-and-a-half year deal and is an instrumental part of an Oxford side mounting a play-off push.

Head-to-Head

Charlton and Oxford have met on 45 previous occasions with the Addicks winning 18 and the U’s 12, with the spoils being shared in the remaining 15 matches.

Bowyer’s men ran out 2-0 winners in the reverse fixture in October thanks to the influential Andrew Shinnie. The Scot created Conor Washington’s opener before doubling his side’s lead with a free kick in first-half stoppage time.

The last meeting at the Kassam Stadium came in April 2019 and saw Oxford win 2-1 with quickfire goals from Curtis Nelson and Luke Garbutt to cancel out Lyle Taylor’s opener from the penalty spot.
