The Addicks will be hoping to make it three wins on the bounce on Saturday afternoon when they face Northampton Town at the PTS Academy Stadium.

A 1-0 win away to Blackpool last time out extended the side’s unbeaten run to three games with three clean sheets, which will certainly have pleased manager Lee Bowyer.

Northampton Town come into this game on the back of a much-needed 2-1 victory against Swindon Town on Tuesday night which ended a run of four consecutive League One losses.

The Cobblers sit below the Addicks in 16th place on seven points.

Team news

New signing Marcus Maddison is in contention to return to the Addicks’ matchday squad after returning to training following his minor ankle injury, but Bowyer will still be without several players for Saturday’s fixture.

Club captain Jason Pearce (knee) is joined on the sidelines by Deji Oshilaja (foot) and Alex Gilbey (achilles), while Ben Purrington is suspended after his sending off at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday night. Ian Maatsen impressed during his second-half appearance at Blackpool and the Chelsea loanee is likely to replace the left-back in the Addicks starting line-up.

Cobblers duo Joseph Mills (ankle) and Scott Pollock (groin) are unavailable after undergoing operations this week, while striker Joe Nuttall remains out as he continues to recover from his knee operation.

Keith Curle says Nicky Adams and Benny Ashley-Seal will both be available for the hosts, despite the pair coming off during Tuesday night’s win.

Head-to-head

The sides have met 33 times, the Addicks winning 11 and the Cobblers nine, with the points being shared in the remaining 13 fixtures.

Charlton’s last trip to the PTS Academy Stadium saw them return to SE7 with all three points after an emphatic 4-0 victory in March 2018 thanks to a brace from Tarique Fosu and goals from Ben Reeves and Josh Magennis.

Ones to watch

Ryan Inniss

The 25-year-old has shone at the heart of an Addicks defence who have kept two clean sheets in consecutive 1-0 wins since he arrived from Crystal Palace. Inniss’ commanding performance at Bloomfield Road saw him earn a place in the Sky Bet League One team of the week. After 10 loan spells away from the Premier League side, it looks as though the defender has found a new lease on life at The Valley.

Christopher Missilou

The midfielder starred for the Cobblers last time out in their 2-1 win against Swindon, picking up a goal and an assist which saw him grab the man of the match award on Tuesday night. Missilou joined the Cobblers this summer after his contract expired at Oldham Athletic.
