Isthmian League action descends on Theobald’s Lane once again, as Cheshunt welcome East Thurrock United to Hertfordshire, with this being the fourth time these sides have faced each other this season!

Previous Encounters

The Rocks were victorious on the opening day when these sides locked horns. Frankie Merrifield’s brace as well as goals from Ben Marlow and Alex Clark saw the Essex outfit run out 4-1 winners, with Cheshunt’s goal coming from the now Tilbury frontman, Brian Moses.

The second meeting was in the FA Trophy in October, with Clark and Merrifield both scoring again to put The Ambers out of the competition at the first hurdle, in a game where Sean Cronin scored his first for Cheshunt, since joining from Wingate and Finchley in the previous month.

The most recent game between the two took place after Christmas, this time in the second round of the Velocity Trophy (League Cup). Despite the teams drawing 2-2 draw in normal time, The Ambers’ 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory sent them through to the Quarter Finals.

The Danger Man

With this being the fourth instalment of games between the two, both teams will know plenty about each other. Frankie Merrifield’s firepower will be one for the Ambers to keep an eye on, having scored in all three games he’s played against Cheshunt this season, helping himself to 17 goals in 32 appearances.

Three In A Row?

Cheshunt’s manager Craig Edwards will be hoping that his side can continue their winning streak, after starting the month with consecutive losses. A 6-1 away triumph over Lewes last Saturday, followed by a 3-1 away win to league leaders Worthing in the Velocity Trophy Quarter-Final gives the home team something to build on ahead of their crucial clash against The Rocks. Ash Nzala netted the winner in the cup, after a returning from a broken leg injury which ruled him out for six months.
