Clay: Class And Confidence

Leyton Orient midfielder Craig Clay spoke exclusively to Rising East after the O’s returned to the top of the National League on Saturday. Dan Walker reports.

Leyton Orient midfielder Craig Clay hailed the ‘confidence’ in the O’s team after a massive 1-0 win over title rivals Wrexham on Saturday.

“We’re confident going into every game, we’ve got that, not arrogance but confidence feeling like we’re going to win every game now.”

Marvin Ekpiteta’s half-volley in the second-half was the difference between the two sides, as Orient reclaimed top spot in the National League. With ten league games remaining, the club are bearing down on automatic promotion.

Shut Out

The O’s have beaten The Dragons home and away three times this season, scoring four goals whilst keeping a clean sheet in every encounter. Clay hailed a professional performance as he admitted the visitors offered little threat going forward:

“I don’t remember them breaking us down if I’m honest. The performance as well as the victory, the clean sheet, just as a whole I thought it was a professional performance today.”
