Cup Run Crucial in a Cold Season

Dan Grimes reports as Genesis' cup game against Helvecia is rescheduled.

Genesis Futsal’s FA Cup match against London Helvecia has been rescheduled for Wednesday the 14th of March.

The game was originally scheduled to take place at the Score Centre in Leyton on the 25th of February but was called off because of the heavy snowfall, a decision that Genesis coach Trevor Tamatave understood completely.

Snowed in

“There would have been too many problems,” Tamatave said. “The snow was causing issues with transport and getting to the game would have dangerous. It also meant we couldn’t train on the Thursday, so we wouldn’t have been as sharp as we should have been.”

Transport wasn’t the only issue, as Tamatave explained the potential problems with Helvecia’s venue.

Cold Times

“At the Score Centre there isn’t any heating. It would have been as cold inside as it was outside, and you can’t expect players to play in those conditions. It made sense to call the game off.”

This run is a bright spark for struggling Genesis this season. The club currently sit at the foot of the Super League but progression in the cup could be a massive morale boost as they look to survive the drop.
