East London Dance and the talent organisation Urban Development are setting up a 1,000 square metre venue funded by £1 million from Sadiq Khan’s Good Growth Fund and £1 million from the Arts Council, in order to support the development of dance and performance skills among young people.

The Talent House which is due to be completed in 2019, will host dancers aged 14-30. It is part of the Sugar House Island Development, adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Pamela McCormick, director, Urban Development said: ”We are proud to team up with East London Dance for this, our biggest undertaking yet, that will be the catalyst for the emergence of a new creative community in the area.

”The new building will make us fit-for-purpose, it will allow accessibility to talent, it will encourage diversity and connect London’s sub-cultures to new audiences, markets and opportunities.”
