The former Brighton man has joined the East-London side on loan until the end of the season and adds some much-needed experience to the middle of the park.

This will be Loft’s second spell at Victoria Road, having joined the club back in 2009 from Brighton. The midfielder made 11 appearances for the Daggers, before being recalled after impressing in his time at the club.

Loft has made just under 400 appearances in the Football League during his career, including making 200 appearances for Port Vale, where he scored 19 goals in the process. In the 2011-12 season, the midfielder was voted the club’s player of the year. Loft will provide some vital experience to a very young Dagenham midfield.

However, the midfielder is short of match fitness, having only made one league appearance for his parent club, which was on the opening day in a 1-0 defeat to Bradford. The former Colchester United player’s only other match action so far this season has been four appearances in the EFL Trophy.

Peter Taylor stated that he is happy to have Loft on board:

“I’m really pleased to have signed Doug Loft on loan until the end of the season, he is a very experienced midfield player that I felt we needed, and I’m really pleased to have him on board,” he said.

The midfielder is expected to be named in the squad for the Daggers’ next match against Aldershot on Saturday and will wear the number 22 shirt.
