Dagenham & Redbridge have announced the signing of Ebbsfleet defender Kenny Clark on a deal that will run until the summer of 2021.

The central defender began his career at the East London Club, as a youth player, but joined Thurrock after being released in 2006.

Earlier Career

Clark became club captain at Ship Lane at a very tender age in a four-year spell, before Chelmsford fought off competition for his signature in the summer of 2011. The defender quickly became a fans’ favourite, establishing himself as captain in a side that reached the play-offs.

After two seasons with Chelmsford, where he featured in more than 80 games, he was snapped up by Dartford where he made 31 Conference Premier appearances.

The 30-year-old then joined Ebbsfleet United in July 2014 and went on to make over 200 appearances for the Fleet.

This Season

Clark has been involved in nine National League matches so far this season for the Kent side, scoring in Ebbsfleet’s 1-1 draw with Maidstone at the end of October.

Daggers manager, Peter Taylor gave his thoughts on the signing of the centre back.

“We are delighted to have wrapped up the signing of Kenny Clark, he is a very experienced centre half who knows this club well. He is a leader and an organiser, and he will be a great signing for us on and off the pitch,” Taylor said.

Competition For Places

The signing doesn’t come as too much of a surprise as the Daggers are currently short of cover in central defence with Alex Davey out injured with a knee problem. Clark will have to battle with the impressive Manny Onariase and Ben Goodliffe if he is to secure a starting place at Victoria Road.

It’s not yet known whether Clark will be available for selection Dagenham’s clash against Havant and Waterlooville, but he will certainly be available on Saturday, as the Daggers travel up North to take on Hartlepool United at the Victoria Ground.
