Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer will face each other in the pool stages of the ATP Finals after being drawn in the Bjorn Borg Group, where they will be joined by Dominic Thiem and Matteo Berrettini.

In the Arthur Ashe group, World Number 1 Rafael Nadal will be joined by rising stars Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev.

The event will see Djokovic and Federer at opposite ends of the court for the first time since their five-set thriller in the Wimbledon final back in march, which Djokovic won in a final set tiebreak after almost five hours of tennis.

Despite withdrawing from last week’s Paris Masters with a small abdominal strain, Nadal is expected to compete in London, meaning alternates Roberto Bautista Agut and Gael Monfils are unlikely to see any action.

Rankings

The event also has big implications on the world rankings, with Djokovic trailing Nadal by just 600 points. This means that Djokovic would end the year at World Number One should he win the event and Nadal failed to reach the semi-final stage.

The format will see the players play three pool stage matches, with the top two in each group advancing to the semi-finals.

This is the 11th time the finals have been held at the 02, with Djokovic taking home three of the titles since 2009.

This is the third year in a row that there has been no British representative at the finals, with Kyle Edmund struggling for form and Andy Murray just beginning his comeback from a career threatening hip injury.

However, Britain will be represented in the doubled competition, as Joe Salisbury will partner former Australian Open mixed doubled champion Rajeev Ram.
