Earliest memories

Jordan told us how his love for football started at five years-of-age. Growing up he idolised Thierry Henry and it was the Frenchmen who made him want to become a striker.

“I remember watching Thierry Henry when I was younger as my brother supported Arsenal, so a lot of Arsenal games were on during the day and at night… I loved watching how he showed he was a good striker and the number of goals that he scored which made me want to become a striker.” He added.

Become a striker is what he did!

Jordan has his own highlight reel on YouTube that showcases his ability to find the back of the net and his electrifying pace.

Learning curve

Before heading off to America, Jordan spent some time with Lincoln City which helped him mature and grow into a 20-year-old man rather than a boy.

“I’ve learnt how to be independent, I’ve been away from home for a long time now. At Lincoln I was staying in digs as a scholar.” Adebayo Smith stated.

However, there is one thing he is still aiming to accomplish.

“I’m still learning how to cook, i’m not the best but I can do the basic meals like pasta, beans on toast etc.” he jokingly stated.

America move

Jordan’s opportunity to go play in America for the Tampa Bay Rowdies was brought to the table by his agent.

“My agent came to me with the idea to come over. I looked at videos and I spoke to the manager and all other staff. They sounded like they really wanted me to be part of their plan.” Jordan stated.

When asked whether he was hesitant to move away, he explained that he was “quite optimistic” since the conversations with the manager, Neill Collins had gone well.

“I knew I made the right choice” he said.

Ambitions

Jordan has a brilliant mindset and a great work ethic for a young man. He acknowledges that he still has a lot to learn to get where he wants to be in the future.

“I’m learning everyday but I know with hard work I can go anywhere. I’m always going to try my best and give it 100% wherever I’m at.” Smith added.

His future ambitions are to return to London and play professionally here in the UK, “I would love to play professionally in London.” He stated.
