Dan Lawrence and Sam Cook have been selected for England Lions. The duo will head to training camp in the UAE which runs between the 6th-27th November.

What To Expect?

The Lions squad will play a three-day match against the England test team between 23rd-25th of November.

The squad will be used as development for the players but also as preparation for the senior squad tour of Pakistan.

The duo will take confidence into this tour after Lawrence’s 97 and 1/67 in the Lions last match against South Africa in August.

Lawrence will be looking to impress the selectors after missing out on the senior squad throughout the summer.

Craft

Cook will look to draw on the experience of Jimmy Anderson, who joins the squad as preparation for the Pakistan test, to improve his craft.

The group will also be joined by current England players Jamie Overton, Ollie Robinson, Jack Leach and Will Jacks to help with their preparation for the Pakistan test.

Jofra Archer, Saqib Mahmood and Brydon Carse will also be part of the squad as they continue their rehab from injury.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, ECB performance Director, Mo Bobcat said,

“While we aim to ensure that Lions opportunities are closely aligned to England’s future needs, we also try to be as individualised as possible with our player programming”.

“Selection for the camp was conducted in close collaboration with both players and counties,” he added.
