Sunrisers Star girl Grace Scrivens and new head coach Laura Marsh are heading to the U19 T20 World Cup in South Africa next January.

England will play Zimbabwe, Pakistan and Rwanda with the chance to progress to the super sixes. This is the first time the tournament will be played, illustrating the rise of women’s cricket.

The World Cup will finally resume, after originally being scheduled for last January in Bangladesh.

Carry On shining

Scrivens will want to continue where she finished the English summer with great performances with both batting and bowling especially in the T20 formats.

The all-rounder will look to play a key part in the squad, being one of four players to play in the Hundred last season.

England’s young stars Freya Kemp and Alice Capsey are left out as they are likely to be named in the senior squad throughout the winter.

New Beginning’s

Laura Marsh will see her new player first hand, as she arrives in the rainbow nation as an assistant to head coach Chris Guest.

The squad also includes Hundred winners Ryana MacDonald-Gay and Sophia Smale.

“They’re a tremendous group of young cricketers with great potential at the beginning of their journeys in the game,” Richard Bedbrook, head of women pathways said to ESPNcricinfo.

“We have the ambition for the next few months to be a significant life moment for all the players and ensure they use it as a springboard towards making an impact in senior regional cricket, and hopefully beyond in years to come,”  he added.
