A resounding 6-2 victory ensured Fisher ended the season on a high as they beat K Sports.

After a 7-0 victory on Monday Fisher were back in the goals again as they took their tally to 13 in their final two games.

Fishers Flying Start

Fisher started the action from the first minute, with good work from Darnelle Bailey-King down the right as he burst away from his man and fired a cross in. The K Sports keeper failed to collect and Julio Da Mata was on hand to bundle the ball over the line, giving Fisher the perfect start.

Soon after Fisher had a penalty to double their lead. Monday’s goal machine David Luzolo did well to get between the ball and his man and was dragged down by the K Sports defender. It was Isaac Thompson who stepped up to make it 2-0.

Inside 30 minutes it was 3-0, this time Thompson turned provider as he clipped a brilliant ball in behind the defence for Luzolo to chase. Luzolo showed immense strength as he went shoulder to shoulder with the defender and left them in a heap on the floor before he raced in and slotted home calmly.

Second Half Ease

The second half had a pre-season feel to it, which started with a moment to forget for stand-in keeper Shawn Alfred, the usual goalkeeping coach. A back pass from his defence bobbled up over his foot and into his own net, giving K Sports an early lifeline in the second half.

Fisher’s three goal cushion was restored soon after, with Da Mata getting his second of the game, eight yards out with his back to goal he spun brilliantly and fired into the roof of the net.

Despite a lacklustre performance K Sports managed to grab another. A shot from the edge of the box deflected giving Alfred no chance and restored some pride for K Sports.

Fisher weren’t done yet with Thompson grabbing another, the ball was played down the right channel inside the box and Thompson made no mistake in firing into the bottom corner across the keeper.

Thompson saved the best for last. With virtually the last kick of the game, Thompson added a late contender for goal of the season. Cutting in from the left-hand side onto his favoured right foot, Thompson unleashed a rocket from outside the area that crashed off the bar and in.

A great way to end the season in front of 238 fans. The end of season awards followed the match. The pick of the bunch going to Thompson who won three awards – top goal scorer, supporters’ young player of the season and players player of the season.
