Jack Giordmaina reports on an exciting new initiative…

Formula E in Schools is the brand new support series for the exciting new motorsport called Formula E. The Greenpower Education Trust who organised the new series will come together with interested high schools from all across London at The Crystal in Royal Victoria on February 25.

The Greenpower Education Trust came together with Formula E and the FIA to promote the idea of students working with the new battery technologies that power electric cars as well as encouraging students to pursue a career in engineering them.

The project will see students aged 11 to 16 given the chance to pit their wits against other schools by constructing and driving electric Formula E School Series cars on the same circuits as the advanced Formula E racers.

Ten schools will be successful in creating teams that will participate at the London eprix , which will feature a 20-minute qualifying session between the official Formula E practice and qualifying sessions and will culminate in a 20-minute sprint race.

The London eprix is set to take place around the streets of Battersea Park on the June 27 and June 28.
