The eagerly anticipated season eight of Game of Thrones (GOT) due to launch next month has now been postponed till February 2020. This is so that the ending that was leaked on Tumblr this morning and then widely shared can be re-written and re-filmed.
GOT author and producer George R. R. Martin is reported to be infuriated by the leak, but has assured his fans that he will put a morning aside to complete the new script as soon as possible, so that the actors can re-shoot as soon as next month.
Spoiler spoiler alert! Anyone who does not want the spoiler spoiled for them should look away now, because what follows is a summary of the ending that Tumbled out of Tumblr. The main events in the last few scenes were to have been as follows:
Arya manages to kill Jamie, before using Jamie’s stolen face to sneak up on Cersei who she murders, thereby completing her kill list. We are then taken to the final battle where it appears that there is no hope for our beloved characters. Daenerys is on her death bed after giving birth to the only heir born to her and Jon Snow. The White Walkers win the battle and make haste to Daenerys, only to find her dead. They are about to leave when they hear the cries of the new born baby which they scoop up and ride away with. The series ends with the White Walkers’ leader sitting on his throne holding the crying baby. Just before the screen goes black, the baby turns into a White Walker.
