AFC Hornchurch put in a convincing performance as they defeated North London side, Haringey Borough, 3-0 in the Isthmian League.

Even Start

The first ten minutes of the match was fairly even, neither side managed a shot on goal. However, suddenly the game sprang to life a minute later.

Ade Cole of Haringey Borough had a chance from just outside the box, but it went just over the bar. Soon after, in the 15th minute, Hornchurch had their first shot as the captain Lewwis Spence’s shot was blocked by defender Rakim Richards and missed the target.

The Opener

Just after the half an hour mark the hosts took the lead as the ball broke to Spence in the visitor’s half and he chipped the ball over keeper Jonathan Miles and into the net to make it 1-0 with a sensational strike.

It was a fairly even half, the Urchins edged it having the better chances and they went into the break one goal up.

A corner is put into the box which is successfully defended by AFC Hornchurch.

Hornchurch Take Control

Four minutes into the second half Hornchurch doubled their lead as Haringey’s goalkeeper failed to clear the ball, Liam Nash was on hand to pinch the ball of Miles and convert from a narrow angle as the Urchins grabbed hold of the match. That was Nash’s 7th goal of the season.

It got better for the hosts in the 60th minute as Jili Buyabu collected the ball from the left-hand side of the box and scored a beautiful goal making it 3-0.

In the 66th minute, Cypriot midfielder Andronicos Georgiou had a crack for the visitors, however his shot from 25-yards was just too high.

Hornchurch substitute Charlie Stimson had a chance to make it 4-0 in the 84th minute, however Miles made a fine save making amends for his mistake earlier on.

The Urchins head clear another set piece at the Hornchurch Stadium.
