On Tuesday evening, AFC Hornchurch square off against Worthing FC in an Isthmian Premier League matchup under the lights at Hornchurch Stadium. The game kicks off at 7:45.

Team News

Last time out, Hornchurch cruised to a 3-0 home win in an action-packed game against Haringey Borough, despite dealing with some big absences from their lineup, with Defender Ricky Hayles suspended for his red card against Folkestone Invicta. Hayles is still suspended for the game against Worthing as he will complete the last of a three game ban, however there is some good news as Mickey Parcell is available for selection again as he served his one match ban after a yellow card suspension against Haringey Borough.

Tough Test

The Urchins have won their last two league games but will find it difficult to stretch their winning run against Worthing, with the visitors having won their last five matches in the league. Worthing will provide a stern test for Hornchurch as the Rebels currently sit five points clear at the top of the Isthmian Premier League table and have lost only two games this season. In an interview with the Romford Recorder, Hornchurch head coach Mark Stimson has described Worthing as “the best team in the league”. Despite the strength of opposition, the Urchins manager is confident that his team are ready for the challenge. “We’re looking forward to it as you always want to test yourself against the best”, Stimson told the Romford Recorder.

Ones To Watch

Rebels’ frontman Ollie Pearce is in good goalscoring form for Worthing and has seven goals in his last six league matches. In his last league game, Pearce scored in first half injury time and helped his side to a hard fought 2-1 win at home to Potters Bar. The Hornchurch defence will have to work hard to keep Pearce from scoring. At the other end of the pitch, Patrick Webber has plenty of experience, with appearances for football league clubs Ipswich Town and Wigan Athletic despite being only 22 years old. The defender has been a rock at the back for Worthing this season and the Hornchurch forwards will have their work cut out for them in the game.

On-fire Nash

Hornchurch Striker Liam Nash has scored ten goals in 20 league appearances this season. Nash is on fire right now, notching two goals in his last three Isthmian Premier League appearances, including a brilliant goal in the game against Haringey Borough. On top of his goals, Nash also has eight assists in the league this season. These 18 goal contributions have made Nash a key player for the Urchins so far in the league and he will be hoping to add to his impressive goal tally on Tuesday night.
